IHL Announces Weekly Honors

ROCHESTER, MI--- The International Hockey League (IHL) announced Monday that Bloomington forward Craig Macdonald has been named the IHL Player of the Week, Port Huron right wing Mikael Bedard has been named the IHL Rookie of the Week and Fort Wayne goaltender Tim Haun has been named the IHL Goaltender of the Week for the period ending Sunday, November 15th, 2009.

Macdonald finished Week Five registering nine points in three games. He notched in a total of six goals and dished out three assists with a plus-five rating for the week. He scored two goals in each of the three games played this weekend, recording the game-winner for the PrairieThunder Saturday in the 5-2 win over the Mallards. Macdonald is currently riding a three-game point streak with his nine points registered. The 27-year-old Milton, Ontario native is currently tied for second in the IHL in scoring with 20 points (9 goals, 11 assists) in 13 games played so far this season.

Other players nominated for the IHL Player of the Week include: Dayton forward Matt Auffery, Flint forward Jamie Schaafsma, Fort Wayne defenseman Guy Dupuis, Muskegon right wing Robin Bouchard, Port Huron forward Kris Vernarsky and Quad City center Mike Zbriger.

Bedard wrapped up the week with a total of four points in three games played by the Icehawks last week. He scored two goals and had two assists with a plus-two rating. He notched at least one point in all three games played, having his first two goal game as a pro on Saturday in Flint. Bedard is currently riding a three-game point streak entering the sixth week of his professional career. The 21- year-old Montreal, Quebec native is currently tied for fourth place in scoring among IHL rookies, just two points behind the leader.

Other players nominated for the IHL Rookie of the Week include: Bloomington defenseman Jesse Dudas, Dayton forward Michael Mullen, Flint forward John Mori, Fort Wayne defenseman Matt Woodard, Muskegon defenseman Matt Krug and Quad City right wing Brandon Marino.

Haun completed the week with a 2-1-0-0 record, playing just over 180 minutes. He only allowed four goals against in three games in three nights, giving him a 1.33 goals against average for the week. He made a total of 56 saves in those three games having a.933 save percentage. Haun has started the last four games for the Komets, having a three-game winning streak snapped with a 2-1 loss in Muskegon Sunday. The 29-year-old Solsgirth, Manitoba native currently leads all IHL goaltenders in goals against average with 2.14.

Other goaltenders nominated for the IHL Goaltender of the Week include: Bloomington's Andrew Martin, Dayton's Ryan Mior, Flint's Jean-Francois Labbe, Muskegon's Sebastien Centomo, Port Huron's Larry Sterling and Quad City's Kyle Jones.
