IFL Welcomes the Reading Express

August 18, 2010 - Indoor Football League (IFL) News Release


Richmond, VA: At a press conference today the Indoor Football League proudly announced the addition of the Reading Express who will begin play during the 2011 season. The Reading Express are owned and operated by area businesspeople Ted and Lisa Lavender. Champions in 2009, the Express will accompany recently added Lehigh Valley to compete in the Atlantic East division. Expansion in the Northeast region is not complete for the IFL as the league intends to add additional teams to the division in the coming weeks. IFL Commissioner Tommy Benizio stated, "We are very excited to welcome the Reading Express into the Indoor Football League family. Reading is a high quality organization which brings a great deal of enthusiasm and talent to our Atlantic division." The Express are entering their 6th year of operation and look to reach new heights as a member of America's Premier Indoor Football League.

In addition to the move, Reading formally introduced their new General Manager, Tim Glase and Head Coach, Chris Thompson for the 2011 season. "We expect to continue our growth and add even more strength to our position in indoor football," said Owner and President Ted Lavender.
