Published on March 21, 2023 under Indoor Football League (IFL) News Release
The IFL's 15th season officially kicked off this past weekend and it saw two high scoring games that set the stage for the rest of the season.
The Arizona Rattlers went on the road to Quad City where they matched up with last season's runner-up. It was a showcase of two of the best quarterbacks in the league.
Arizona's Drew Powell had 139 passing yards and 78 rushing yards. He had four passing touchdowns and another two on the ground. His Quad City counterpart, EJ Hilliard, threw for 132 and four touchdowns and rushed for 102 and two touchdowns.
Arizona took a 14-point lead late after they were down 46-45. The Steamwheelers were unable to overcome the deficit and started the 2023 season out with their first loss of the season in a 60-53 battle.
Sunday saw Green Bay host Frisco, and things were looking good for them for the first few minutes of play. It didn't take long for Frisco to take control of the game. The Blizzard walked into the second quarter up 16-13, but just 15 minutes later they were down 46-16.
TJ Edwards rushed for six touchdowns and threw for another as Green Bay had no answer for their offense. The Fighters defense also locked down the Blizzard with four interceptions.
Week two will feature six games and will begin with the first ever game for the Tulsa Oilers as they visit Frisco. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:05 pm CT.
