IFL Week 16 Players of the Week Announced

The Indoor Football League (IFL) is proud to announce the Vidswap.com Players of the Week for Week 16 of the 2019 IFL season.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Anthony Philyaw (RB, Green Bay Blizzard)

A week after securing a spot in the IFL playoffs, the Green Bay Blizzard clinched a home playoff game as the team defeated the Cedar Rapids River Kings 56-15 in Week 16. Recently signed RB Anthony Philyaw proved to be a workhorse back for the Blizzard as he found the endzone four times in the team's victory. His four first half touchdowns helped the Blizzard build a comfortable lead that would not be contested. Philyaw finished the game with 16 rushing attempts for 88 yards and the four touchdowns. He also added one reception for ten yards. The Green Bay Blizzard play the River Kings again this weekend.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Tevin Madison (DB, Iowa Barnstormers)

The Iowa Barnstormers clinched a first-round playoff bye as the team came out on top over the Sioux Falls Storm 55-43. In a contested battle between two IFL heavyweights, DB Tevin Madison helped shift the momentum in the Barnstormers favor early in the matchup. Madison intercepted Storm QB Lorenzo Brown on the Storm's first drive of the game. The interception set up the Barnstormers to score a touchdown four plays later giving Iowa a decisive early 13-point lead. Madison paced the Barnstormers throughout the game and led the team with six tackles. The Barnstormers host the Nebraska Danger in the final week of the 2019 IFL regular season.

SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Jarrod Harrington (KR, Arizona Rattlers)

The Arizona Rattlers narrowly escaped in-state rival Tucson Sugar Skulls in a thrilling 50-49 overtime matchup in Week 16. After a first half dominated by the Sugar Skulls, WR/ KR Jarrod Harrington helped provide a spark late that fueled the Rattlers second half comeback. With less than a minute remaining in the second quarter, Harrington took a kickoff and burst through the Sugar Skulls' special teams' unit for a quick 50 yard return touchdown. That touchdown helped fuel the Rattlers as the team would score 14 more unanswered points in the third quarter to even the game. Harrington finished the game with five kickoff returns for 109 yards and a touchdown. He also added a seven yard rushing touchdown. The Arizona Rattlers host the San Diego Strike Force in Week 17.
