IFL Players of the Week

Corpus Christi, Texas: The Intense Football League Office selected the leagues outstanding Players of the Week on Wednesday. The San Angelo Stampede Express Brent Dearmon, Katy Ruff Riders Joey Longoria and San Angelo Stampede Express Sean Riley are honored for their play in week 16. Brent Dearmon, Quarterback for the Stampede Express, continued his inspired play as San Angelo defeated Fairbanks 54-51. He completed 22 passes for 246 yards, and threw 7 touchdowns. He also rushed the ball for 9 yards, and with 1:37 left in the game, rushed in a 2 point conversion to tie the game. For the second consecutive game, Dearmon did not throw an interception, and has the Stampede Express on a two game winning streak. In his two games with San Angelo, Dearmon has passed for 552 yards and thrown 16 touchdowns with no interceptions This Saturday, The (3-9) Stampede express host the (5-7) Katy Ruff Riders in a must win game for both teams. Defensive Player of the Week goes to Defensive Back Joey Longoria of the (5-7) Katy Ruff Riders. He was a very active defender as the Ruff Riders defeated the (9-3) Corpus Christi Hammerheads, 48-41. Longoria had a Ruff Rider season high, 11 tackles (9 solo, 4 assists). He also registered 1 tackle for a loss of 4 yards. This weekend, Katy battles the (3-9) San Angelo Stampede Express in a must win game for the Ruff Riders, to keep their playoff hopes alive. San Angelo Stampede Express Kicker, Sean Riley, earned Special Teams Player of the Week. Riley had 425 in kick off yardage for an average of 47.2 a kick. He had connected on 5 of 6 extra point attempts and was 1-3 Field goal attempts. None was bigger than his 24 yard game winner as time expired, to give the (3-9) Stampede Express a victory and eliminating the (2-10) Fairbanks Grizzlies from the playoffs, 54-51. With 2 weeks remaining in the Intense Football League Season, the playoff slots are still up for grabs. All of the IFL teams are striving to get to and win the Intense Bowl 4, and represent the league against the United Indoor Football League's Champion on July 26, 2008. This week around the IFL finds Alaska playing Louisiana, Fairbanks visiting Odessa, Katy versus San Angelo, CenTex traveling to Corpus Christi, and Frisco with a bye week.
