IFL Players Of The Week- Week Three

CORPUS CHRISTI - The Corpus Christi Hammerheads' offensive line is being called the Intense Football League's Offensive Players of the Week. Moreover, Hammerheads' defensive back Rueben Flowers, playing in his first indoor football game, nabbed Defensive Player of the Week Honors, and kick returner Kevin Lenford received Special Teams Player of the Week,the IFL announced Tuesday.

The offensive line of center Derrick Hamilton and tackles Walter Wigfall and Matt Ross were recognized for their efforts in the Corpus Christi's convincing 70-30 victory against San Angelo Saturday in the Central Pavilion Arena in Robstown.

Through the contest, the offensive line allowed only one sack of quarterback Dustin Almond. Behind Hamilton, Wigfall and Ross, Almond completed 22 of 32 for 246 yards and seven touchdowns. Almond also finished with a quarterback efficiency rating of 151.

Flowers, a product of Flour Bluff High School just outside of Corpus Christi, turned in a solid effort in his first game after making the team through open tryouts in February. He finished the game with one interception and 9.5 tackles, including seven solo tackles. He led the team in tackles and currently leads the league as well.

Kevin Lenford was named the IFL's special teams player of the week, with his difference making performance. In a win over the Alaska Wild Sunday, Lenford had seven returns for 194 yards, an average of 27.7 yards a return. His returns Frisco allowed frisco to start on Alaska's end of the field most of the game.
