IFL Meetings to Begin Wednesday
August 25, 2009 - Indoor Football League (IFL) News Release
Richmond, VA: Representatives from each of the twenty-one Indoor Football League teams, and members of the League Office will participate in their first round of meetings beginning Wednesday, August 26th in Baltimore, MD.
"Focused on the Future" is the overall theme of these meetings with a heavy emphasis being placed on improving the quality of play on the field, cutting team costs, and expanding into new markets. "We have over a dozen expansion prospects from various cities coming to the first day of these meetings to review the league in a special session," stated IFL Commissioner Tommy Benizio. "Each of these prospects will learn from experienced ownership groups the various steps it takes to create a new franchise in minor league sports."
Other topics being discussed include an opportunity for a National Television deal, an IFL Video Game, changes to the Operations Manual and Rule Book, and new league marketing strategies.
Mike Clark, IFL's Director of Communications stressed the importance that these meetings will have on the IFL. "It's not often that we have the chance to get all the leagues decision makers together in one room. In these meetings, we have the opportunity to assess what can be improved on from last season, and make choices that will have a beneficial impact on the IFL in 2010 and beyond," stated Clark.
The League Meetings begin on Wednesday, August 26th and last until Saturday, August 29th. The Indoor Football League was created in 2008 out of the merger between the Intense Football League and the United Indoor Football Association. It consists of 20 teams spanning from Fairbanks, Alaska to Washington DC with the season being played from March through August.
