IFL Issues Statement on Minnesota Havok
January 29, 2016 - Indoor Football League (IFL) News Release
The Indoor Football League (IFL) announced today that the membership of the Minnesota Havok has been terminated. Effective immediately, the team will no longer participate during the upcoming 2016 IFL season.
"As a result of the Havok organization failing to reach minimum IFL operational standards, the League has made the difficult decision to terminate the team's membership," stated IFL Commissioner Michael Allshouse. "We greatly value the tremendous fans of the IFL and refuse to provide anything less than the highest professional product, both on and off the field, in the industry. We are highly anticipating the start of the 2016 season, which should prove to be the most exciting in League history."
Fans that have purchased tickets for the Havok's 2016 season are encouraged to contact the team office to receive a refund; (507) 382-0128.
The IFL and its member teams will proceed with a revised 2016 schedule featuring 10 teams. Home dates for all member teams remain unchanged. Each team will complete a 16 game schedule (8 home/8 away) including three bye weeks. Home dates for all member teams are unaffected.
The 19-Week, 80-game schedule kicks off on Saturday, February 20th, featuring the renewal of a historic rivalry when the Tri-Cities Fever host the Spokane Empire. The regular season will conclude on Saturday, June 25th.
After observing a league-wide bye week at the conclusion of the season during the Fourth of July weekend (July 1st-3rd), postseason play will begin the weekend of July 8th and culminate in the 2016 United Bowl championship game during the weekend of July 22nd.
In addition to a revised schedule, league conference alignments have been amended as well. The Wichita Falls Nighthawks have joined the United Conference. Please see below for updated conference alignments as well as the revised 2016 IFL schedule.
