IFL IFL Announces 2017 Hall of Fame Finalists
May 22, 2017 - Indoor Football League (IFL) News Release
The three-member Hall of Fame Class of 2017 will be revealed on Thursday, May 25,2017. In addition, during game festivities at the 2017 United Bowl, the newest members will be inducted into the Hall of Fame.
IFL fans are encouraged to assist in the selection process. Fans can vote for Hall of Fame finalists via polls on the IFL's official website, www.GoIFL.com, and social media pages using, #IFLHOF.
Finalists listed in alphabetical order:
PIG BROWN : (LB, OMAHA BEEF, NEBRASKA DANGER)
Linebacker for the Nebraska Danger and Omaha Beef. Upon his retirement at the conclusion of the 2015 IFL season, Brown ranks second in IFL history with 540 tackles. He registered 18.5 sacks and 15 interceptions during his career. He was an All-IFL selection in 2014. Brown was a standout performer and leader for the Nebraska Danger teams that won three straight Intense Conference Championships (2013-2015). Brown was named to the Nebraska Danger Hall of Fame in 2016. He has since made a successful transition into coaching, currently serving as the Defensive Coordinator for the Danger.
TERI CARR : (IFL TEAM OWNER, TRI-CITIES FEVER)
Teri Carr guided the Tri-Cities Fever for over 12 seasons of play. During her ownership the Fever were crowned Intense Conference Champions during the 2011 and 2012 seasons. In 2011, Carr was named IFL Executive of the Year. In 2012, the Fever were named IFL Franchise of the Year. During the 2014 season, the Fever were awarded the IFL team Community Relations Award and Best Game Operations. Carr and the Fever remain very active in the Tri-Cities community participating in charities such as; Jefferson Elementary After School Matters, raising money for Breast Cancer Awareness, Junior Achievements, and the United Way.
WILLIE COPELAND: (QB, ARKANSAS DIAMONDS, GREEN BAY BLIZZARD, CEDAR RAPIDS TITANS, COLORADO ICE/CRUSH)
Quarterback for the Green Bay Blizzard, Cedar Rapids Titans and Colorado Ice/Crush. As a member of the Ice, Copeland was named the 2014 IFL MVP. During that season, he lead the Ice to a 10-4 record and the Intense Conference Championship game. He was also a First-Team All-IFL selection in 2014. For his career, Copeland ranks second all-time in IFL history in passing yards (9,284) and third all-time in passing touchdowns (194).
MICHAEL EBY : (DB, BILLINGS OUTLAWS, WYOMING CAVALRY, COLORADO ICE/CRUSH)
Over his six year IFL career, Eby played defensive back for the Billings Outlaws, Wyoming Cavalry, and Colorado Ice. In 2009, while a member of the Outlaws, Eby was named Defensive Rookie of the Year and was selected Second Team All-IFL. For his career, Eby ranks fourth all-time in IFL history with 400 tackles and 28 interceptions.
ROBERT FULLER : (HEAD COACH, FAIRBANKS GRIZZLIES, GREEN BAY BLIZZARD, BEMIDJI AXEMEN)
During his career, Fuller has served as Head Coach of the Fairbanks Grizzlies, Green Bay Blizzard, and Bemidji Axemen. In IFL play, Fuller's teams have accumulated a combined 27-21 record during the regular season (1-2 in postseason play). In consecutive seasons (2011 Fairbanks, 2012 Blizzard), Fuller was named IFL Coach of the Year and received the league's Adam Pringle Award (equivalent to the NFL's Walter Payton Man of the Year). In 2012, Fuller led the Blizzard to an 11-3 regular season record and the United Conference Championship game.
AMEER ISMAIL ( LB, TRI-CITIES FEVER, BLOOMINGTON EDGE, CHICAGO SLAUGHTER)
Linebacker for the Tri-Cities Fever, Bloomington Edge, and Chicago Slaughter. During his IFL career, Ismail is a two-time First Team All-IFL selection. He was named IFL Defensive Player of the Year in 2012 as a member of the Bloomington Edge. During his three year IFL career Ismail registered 357 tackles, 13.5 sacks, six interceptions and five forced fumbles.
CORY JOHNSEN: (DL, SIOUX FALLS STORM)
Defensive lineman for the Sioux Falls Storm. Beginning his career in 2006, Johnsen spent 10 seasons anchoring the defensive line of the Storm. He is an eight-time United Bowl Champion (2006-2008 UIF, 2011-2015 IFL). He was a three-time All-League selection (2008, 2009, 2015). He is the Storm's career leader with 64.5 sacks. He ranks fifth in IFL history with 29 sacks.
HOUSTON LILLARD: (QB, TRI-CITIES FEVER)
Quarterback for the Tri-Cities Fever. Lillard is a two-time All-IFL Selection (2011, 2012). He led the Fever to consecutive Intense Conference Championships during the 2011 and 2012 season. For his career, Lillard ranks second in IFL history with 208 passing touchdowns, and 855 completions, he ranks third all-time with 9,102 passing yards.
JAMES TERRY : (WR, SIOUX FALLS STORM)
Wide Receiver for the Sioux Falls Storm (2006-2015). One of the most dynamic offensive players in IFL history, Terry is an eight-time United Bowl Champion (2006-2008 UIF, 2011-2015 IFL). He ranks first in Storm history in receptions, receiving yards, and receiving touchdowns. A three-time All-League selection, Terry ranks first in IFL history in career receptions (452), and all-purpose yards (6,472). He ranks fourth in IFL history with 4,645 receiving yards. Terry was named Co-MVP of the 2014 United Bowl.
DIXIE WOOTEN: (QB, RIVER CITY RAGE, WICHITA WILD, NEBRASKA DANGER)
During three seasons of play in the IFL, Wooten totaled; 5,712 passing yards, 133 passing TDs, a career 61% completion percentage, 620 rushing yards, and 29 rushing TDs. As a member of the Wichita Wild during the 2010 season, Wooten was awarded the Adam Pringle Award (equivalent to the NFL's Walter Payton Man of the Year). He is currently the head coach of the Iowa Barnstormers.
