IFL Appoints Tom Brian as Director of Officials

Richmond, VA: The Indoor Football League (IFL) announced today the appointment of Tom Bryan as the Director of Officials. The IFL is the product of a merger between the Intense Football League (IFL) and the United Indoor Football League (UIFL) with 19 teams from coast to coast including Alaska.
The Cleveland area (Richmond Heights), Ohio resident brings over 40 years of athletic industry experience to the IFL, including 15 years as a Big Ten official, seven years officiating in the Arena Football League, three as a regional supervisor for officiating in af2, one as supervisor of officials for the WIFL and two years as Supervisor of Officials of the AIFL. He currently serves as the official time keeper for the NFL's Cleveland Browns and AFL Cleveland Gladiators.
IFL Executive Director Gary Tufford, who has worked with Bryan in other leagues, commented on the experience that Bryan brings to the league, ?Tom has a tremendous amount of supervisory experience at the top levels of indoor football. His vast knowledge and history in the game is a huge asset to the IFL and the crews that will work under him. There is no substitute for experience and leadership and when it comes to rules and the finite differences that exist in the interpretations you need someone that has an answer to the questions?.
Bryan will oversee the league's officiating crews and serve as liaison with the league and teams regarding on-field rule procedures and issues. He will begin assembling officiating crews immediately in preparation for the upcoming 2009 season beginning in March. Interested officials should contact the league office regarding possible assignments for the season. Potential crew members must be qualified college level officials.
