IFL Announces Week Seven Players of the Week

Published on May 4, 2023 under Indoor Football League (IFL) News Release

The Indoor Football League is proud to announce the Players of the Week for week seven of the 2023 XV season. Massachusetts Running Back, Jimmie Robinson, is the Offensive Players of the Week. Arizona Defensive Lineman, Seyvon Lowry, earns Defensive Player of the Week. Special Teams Player of the Week goes to Imeek Watkins, Wide Receiver for the Bay Area Panthers.

Jimmie Robinson - OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Indoor Football tends to lend itself to the passing game. Most impressive offensive performances come from quarterbacks and wide receivers. Jimmie Robinson doesn't care about that. The Massachusetts running back was simply dominant against the Iowa Barnstormers. Jimmie averaged 10.8 yards per carry. With a 50-yard field, that's 20% of the field per touch. Jimmie amassed 163 yards on the ground. He also had no trouble turning those yards into points with six rushing touchdowns on the night.

Seyvon Lowry - DEFENSIVE PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

There are times when the impact of one play can't be overstated. Tulsa hosting Arizona turned into one of the best games of the season. With the Rattlers jumping out to a 16-6 lead at the end of the first quarter, viewers were probably getting what they expected. Tulsa had other plans. The Oilers were in position to win the game. Tulsa had the ball on the Arizona 14-yard line, the score tied with twelve seconds left in the game. On the next play, Arizona Lineman Seyvon Lowry jumped a quick pass intended for the running back. Lowry returned the interception for a game winning touchdown.

Imeek Watkins - SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK

When game comes down to a fourth and one touchdown pass as time expired, you can usually look back and find a few pivotal moments. No exception when San Diego hosted Bay Area. This game was intense. A huge amount of scoring and endless action. Those pivotal moments belonged to Bay Area Kick Returner Imeek Watkins. He accrued 105 yards on four returns, including a 49-yard return for a touchdown. Add to that a missed field goal that Watkins returned 56-yards for a touchdown on the first drive of the game.

Week eight features six games. It begins with Massachusetts at Green Bay on Friday. There are four games Saturday and Duke City travels to Frisco on Sunday. Find the full schedule, details and where to watch at www.GoIFL.com.
