IFL Announces Week Eighteen Players of the Week

July 20, 2023 - Indoor Football League (IFL) News Release

The Indoor Football League is proud to announce the Players of the Week for week eighteen of the 2023 XV season. Sioux Falls Storm Quarterback, Lorenzo Brown, is the Offensive Player of the Week. Tulsa Linebacker, Jordan Jones, earns Defensive Player of the Week. Special Teams Player of the Week goes to Josh Crockett, Return Specialist for the Tulsa Oilers.

Lorenzo Brown - OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Last week, Lorenzo Brown announced this would be his last year playing Indoor Football. The three-time champion and all-time leader in multiple Sioux Falls Storm categories will be walking off the turf for the last time in 2023. In what was his last regular season home game, he went out with a bang. As a matter of fact, his performance helped guarantee at least one more game in front of his home crowd. Brown threw for 183 yards and seven touchdowns while adding 43 yards rushing. His stellar night helped upset the Massachusetts Pirates and clinched a first-round home game on Saturday.

Jordan Jones - DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

The Tulsa Oilers closed out their inaugural season on a high note. They played well in every facet and upset the Quad City Steamwheelers, sending the Eastern Conference standings into a tizzy. The Oilers defense was rock solid, especially in the second half where they held the Steamwheelers to six points. Leading the way for the Oilers defense was Linebacker Jordan Jones. Jones put on a show, tallying nine tackles, one tackle for loss, one sack, one interception and one safety. Tulsa lost seven games by one score or less. 2024 could look very different for them.

Josh Crockett - SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Again, the one-win Tulsa Oilers did a number on the Eastern Conference standings last week. They capped off a disappointing inaugural season with a massive upset over Quad City. However, the way the game began would have suggested things were not going to go their way. The heavily favored Steamwheelers took the opening kickoff the distance to start the game with a touchdown blow just seconds in. Oilers Kick Returner, Josh Crockett, was not intimidated. He took the following Quad City kickoff 50 yards to bring the game back to even. Less than a minute into the game, the teams were tied at seven with zero offensive plays. Crockett went on to gain 173 yards on six returns. He averaged over 28 yards per return.

Eight teams remain. The 2023 IFL Playoffs start on Saturday with three games and one on Sunday. Don't miss a minute of the postseason action. Check out INSIDE THE IFL LIVE on Saturday night for 'redzone' style viewing of all three Saturday games at one time. Find this and every game on the IFL YouTube channel.
