IFL Announces Week Eight Players of the Week

The Indoor Football League is proud to announce the Players of the Week for Week Eight of the 2024 IFL season. Fred Payton Jr. (JAX) is named Offensive Player of the Week, Claude Davis (SF) is named Defensive Player of the Week, and Gabriel Rui (IA) is named Special Teams Player of the Week.

Fred Payton Jr., QB, Jacksonville Sharks

Kicking off Week Eight, Fred Payton Jr. had nearly a perfect performance against the Oilers, as he ended the night 18/24 for 179 yards and five passing touchdowns. Payton Jr. also led the Sharks in rushing, finding the end zone once on 13 carries for 53 yards. This performance not only helped the Sharks get their first victory as members of the Indoor Football League, but it also earned him Week Eight Offensive Player of the Week honors.

Claude Davis, DL, Sioux Falls Storm

In an effort resulting in Sioux Falls' first win of the 2024 season, defensive lineman Claude Davis was a shining star. Davis finished the night with two-and-a-half tackles, two sacks, two tackles for loss, and an interception. This effort earned the Storm a victory in Week Eight while earning Claude Davis the title of Week Eight Defensive Player of the Week.

Gabriel Rui, K, Iowa Barnstormers

Also earning their first win of the season, the Iowa Barnstormers gained a boost from the special teams efforts of kicker Gabriel Rui. Against the Oilers, Rui was a perfect 3/3 on field goals, 6/6 on PATs, and also added four points to the Barnstormers' total with two deuces. With a winning differential of two points, Rui was crucial in Iowa's first win of the season. His performance earned him Week Eight Special Teams Player of the Week.
