IFL Announces The Addition Of Kent, Washington
December 8, 2009 - Indoor Football League (IFL) News Release
Kent, WA: The Indoor Football League proudly announced today the placement of a team in Kent, WA. The club will begin play this spring at the Showare Center. Owners Chris Kokalis and Ken Moninski were on hand at a press conference today to present this project to the community and members of the local media. "Washington and Kent specifically, have been high on our wish list as a community to introduce the IFL to. We are very pleased to be bringing professional football to this fine city" stated team president Chris Kokalis. The team will likely compete in a division including; the Tri-Cities (Kennewick) Fever, Fairbanks Grizzlies, Alaska (Anchorage) Wild, Colorado (Fort Collins) Ice, and defending champions Billings Outlaws.
The Indoor Football League will compete in 26 markets from Alaska to Washington D.C. for the 2010 season beginning in March. Teams play a 14 game season and regularly promote players to the next level including, the CFL and NFL. Based in Richmond, VA the IFL is known for its stability and growth and is considered by many as the Premier Indoor Football League in the nation.
"The IFL had it's eye on this Seattle suburb for two years. Tim Higgins and his staff at the Showare Center seemed equally eager to have our product in their beautiful venue. This combined with stalled lease negotiation efforts in Wasilla, AK have led to this tremendous opportunity" expressed IFL Commissioner Tommy Benizio. The IFL still intends on pursuing the Wasilla community in the future but will not compete there in 2010.
Regular announcements will be forthcoming from this new organization including team name, logo, head coach, player signings, and more. For more information about this or any other IFL topics please log on to www.GoIFL.com or call (804) 643-7277.
