IFL Announces Players of the Week

March 26, 2009 - Indoor Football League (IFL) News Release

Richmond, VA: Two weeks into the IFL schedule and already there is a massing of talent around the league. Four games played this past week produced three new players of the week. With games being played from New York to Anchorage there was stiff competition to see who would top the statistical charts and come out ahead in the performance ratings.

WEEK TWO OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK - CLINT SOLOMAN / WICHITA WILD

Wichita Wild wide receiver Clint Solomon introduced himself to the Omaha Beef fans by exploding with 7 catches for 146 yards and 3 TD's. In a game where scores traded like stock the performance of Solomon kept the Wild close to the game winning Beef all night long. He managed to pierce the Beef secondary with regularity and scored his longest touchdown for 45 yards. Final score was Beef 41 - Wild 36.

WEEK TWO DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK - DAUDIE WHITE / FAIRBANKS GRIZZLIES

In a good old fashioned Northwestern brawl the two Alaskan rivals ducked it out in the Sullivan Arena for some Monday night football. When the Fairbanks Grizzlies needed that extra punch to put the game away they called on defensive back Daudet White. The Grizzly DB was outstanding in the secondary breaking up 3 passes, making 7.5 tackles and intercepting a critical Alaska Wild pass and returning it for a touchdown.

The Grizzlies defeated the Wild 54-35.

WEEK TWO SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK - SPETLAR TONGA / OMAHA BEEF

If you are going to be successful in the IFL you better have great linebackers and great special teams players. Fortunately for the Omaha Beef they have both in one package. Speller Tonga was all over the field on Friday night before the hometown crowd in Omaha. Tonga was the difference in the special teams for the Beef blocking 3 kicks that prevented crucial scores by the Wichita Wild. Tonga who also plays middle linebacker was dominate on defense racking up 7.5 tackles and 1 interception.

The season resumes Saturday night with Billings at Colorado and Bloomington at Muskegon, game time 7:00pm. Follow all the action at www.goifl.com and on the B2 broadcasts of each game all season long.
