June 25, 2013 - Indoor Football League (IFL) News Release

Richmond, VA - As the Indoor Football League (IFL) gears up for this weekend's United Bowl Championship Game (June 29th in Sioux Falls, SD), the League is proud to announce the 2013 Team Awards for outstanding achievements during the 2013 season.

Franchise of the Year: Nebraska Danger

The Nebraska Danger were selected by their peers as the 2013 Franchise of the Year. Factors considered for achieving this award consisted of attendance, sales, public relations, marketing, performance on the field, community involvement, and overall representation of the IFL.

On the field, the Danger set a team record with 10 wins during the regular season. The Danger defeated the Colorado Ice 55-50 over the weekend, winning the Intense Conference Championship and earning the right to play for the United Bowl this weekend against the Sioux Falls Storm. In addition, the team also led the IFL in attendance for the 3rd consecutive season, averaging 5,103 fans per game.

"We are honored to be awarded the IFL's Franchise of the Year," Nebraska Danger owner Charlie Bosselman said. "When we started the Danger almost three years ago, we had dreams of putting together a product on the field that the entire Grand Island community would be proud of and support. Nebraska has not disappointed us and our fans have been truly the reason we are where we are today. (General manager) Mike McCoy and Coach Davis have done a wonderful job of putting together a team of players that work well with each other. And, you can't win an award like this without a wonderful support staff and game day operations team. We've been fortunate to have all of those pieces of the puzzle fit together for us." Executive of the Year: Mike McCoy, Nebraska Danger

Nebraska Danger General Manger Mike McCoy was named IFL Executive of the Year. Holding the position of GM since the team's inception, McCoy has helped build the Danger into one of the most prominent teams in all of indoor football. Under his guidance, the Danger have averaged over 5,000 fans per game in each of the team's three years of existence.

Best Fan Base: Cedar Rapids Titans

The Best Fan Base award is given to the team with the fans that show the most enthusiasm, character, energy, and overall appreciation for their team. Few fan bases rival that of the Cedar Rapids Titans. Despite playing in a smaller arena, the Titans finished 3rd in average attendance during the 2013 season (4182 per game), including selling out 5 of their 7 home games.

Best Game Operations: Green Bay Blizzard

For the 2nd year in a row, the Green Bay Blizzard were awarded as the team with the Best Game Day Operations. The Blizzard consistently created innovative game day presentations, entertaining their fans with unique half-time shows, giveaways, music, and on-field promotions.

Best Cheerleader/Dance Team: Texas Revolution

The Texas Revolution's dance team earned the Best Dance Team award based on providing the most talented and attractive dance team. Uniforms, class, routines, and crowd interaction were also factors in deciding the award.

Community Relations Award: Wyoming Cavalry

The Community Relations award is presented to the team that best exemplifies outstanding service and dedication to their community. The Wyoming Cavalry received the award based on their contributions to the city and surrounding area of Casper, WY. Some of the programs the Cavalry are involved with include volunteering at school reading programs, community programs such as the Girl Scouts and Special Olympics, and contributions to Breast Cancer Awareness.

Player and coach awards will be revealed on Thursday June 27th. The 2013 season culminates this weekend with the United Bowl.
