Ottawa Fury FC Forward Idan Vered Celebrates his Goal

OTTAWA, ON - Ottawa Fury FC forward Idan Vered was named to the NASL Team of the Week, the League announced Wednesday, for his brilliant performance in the club's 1-1 draw in Indianapolis Saturday night against Indy Eleven.
The Israeli striker scored Fury FC's first goal of the season when he slid to finish off a cross from Jonny Steele. Vered, who spent last season in the Serbian SuperLiga with the Red Star Belgrade, took advantage of his first start with the club by netting his first-career goal in Fury colours. That goal was also one of five plays in the running for NASL Play of the Week (Vote Here).
"We're very fortunate to have a player of Idan's quality in our team," said head coach Paul Dalglish. "We saw his quality against Indy and he'll only improve and get better as he learns the system more and gets fitter."
Ottawa return to action Saturday night when they continue their season-opening four-match road trip in Carolina against the RailHawks at 7:30 p.m.
