On their first power play, the Tornado almost struck first as Ralfs Freibergs rang a shot from the point off the iron, but bounced to the left of 'Rays goaltender Marco Wieser. Late in the period, a broken play led to a pass from the corner by Ryan Gauthier to Sam Cheraso in front, who one timed a blast past the glove of Tornado goaltender Jake Stafford for a 1-0 Corpus Christi lead after the 1st period.

The Tornado totally dominated the 2nd period outshooting the 'Rays 12-2 in the period. The Tornado managed to tie the game thanks to a scrum in front after a shot from Ralfs Freibergs, which was saved by Wieser. The rebound was poked at by Jack Prince and ultimately the loose puck found its way to Rock Einersen who pushed home the loose rebound to tie the game at 1-1 on Einersen's 17th goal of the season.

Corpus Christi would take a 2-1 lead in the 3rd period as Ryan Gauthier took advantage of a Tornado turnover in the defensive zone and fired one off the crossbar and into the net past a sprawled Stafford. The Tornado answered back with a little more than three minutes to go as Jackson Leef walked in the high slot on the power play, fired a shot off that was stopped by Wieser, but the rebound was put home by J.D. Howard to tie the game at 2-2 and send it into overtime.

The Tornado had no shot in the OT as two penalties gave the 'Rays a 5 on 3 power play, which was ultimately converted on by Mike Benedict on a rebound on the backdoor to give the IceRays a 3-2 overtime win. The Tornado outshot the 'Rays 39-17 in the game and do get a point for the OT loss. The win by Corpus Christi was their first in six tries against the Tornado.
