IceMen Ready To Start Second Half Strong

January 10, 2010 - All American Hockey League (AAHL)
Evansville IceMen News Release

The Evansville IceMen fought hard to a 9-11-2 record in the first half of the 2009-2010 season and, after hosting the inaugural AAHL All Star weekend, the team in ready to kick off the second half on a strong note.

The IceMen have brought in some new additions to try to bolster the offensive game. The team has had spurts of scoring, but there have also been lapses in offense.

"We have to start scoring more goals", head coach Jack Collins said. "At times our goaltending has been strong, but we haven't scored enough to support it. We have to fix that."

Evansville goaltender Mario Passarelli is among the league leaders in save percentage (.903), goals-against average (3.40) and wins-losses (6-3) in 10 games.

Leading the way in scoring for the IceMen is Ryan Ford, with 12 goals and 13 assists (25 points) and Aaron Naphan with 9 goals and 12 assists (21 points). The IceMen have been a more physical team this season, accumulating 403 penalty minutes in the first 22 games.

The IceMen start the second half of the season at home this Friday and Saturday at Swonder Ice Arena. Friday's game, against the league leading Chi-Town Shooters, starts at 7pm and a rematch between the two on Saturday starts at 7:45. The team will hit the road on Sunday to take on the West Michigan Blizzard in Muskegon, Michigan.
