
IceHawks under new ownership

LAKE ST. LOUIS, MO--- The United Hockey League (UHL) announced Friday that the UHL's Board of Governors has approved the application of Glens Falls Professional Hockey, L.L.C. to operate the Adirondack IceHawks.
Glens Falls Professional Hockey, L.L.C. (GFPH, L.L.C.) includes Richmond RiverDogs (UHL) owners Glenn Morelli and Dr. Eric Margenau. GFPH, L.L.C. also includes ESPN's Barry Melrose and Steve Levy.
"The UHL is thrilled to have such an experienced and qualified ownership group join our league. We are confident that Adirondack's new ownership will provide a first-class product both on and off the ice," stated President/CEO Richard Brosal.
Morelli, the principal partner of the RiverDogs, brings over 25 years of entrepreneurial management to the Glens Falls, New York franchise. He has experience in all aspects of the sports, music and entertainment merchandise industry, including manufacturing, marketing, warehousing and fulfillment. Morelli founded and managed Old Glory Distributing, a music and entertainment catalog and internet business that sold in December 2002 to a publicly traded company (Alloy, Inc.). The Old Saybrook, Connecticut resident has also founded and continues to manage several direct marketing companies including Red Rocket Merchandising Corporation and Saybrook Capital Group.
Since 1986, Dr. Margenau has owned and operated 17 minor league sports franchises. He is currently the president of Margenau Management Corporation (MMC) and is also the CEO and chairman of the board of Orlando Predators Entertainment. Prior to these positions, Dr. Margenau was president of United Sports Ventures (USV).
Melrose, a Glens Falls, New York resident, is currently in his ninth season as a hockey analyst with ESPN. He joined ESPN after serving as the head coach of the Los Angeles Kings of the National Hockey League (NHL). In his first season with the Kings, Melrose guided the team to the 1993 Stanley Cup Finals. He began his coaching career following an 11-year professional playing career that included eight seasons in the NHL with Toronto, Winnipeg and Detroit as well as three seasons in the WHA with Cincinnati. Melrose played parts of four seasons and coached three seasons with the Adirondack Red Wings. He led the 1991-92 team to the 1992 AHL Calder Cup Championship.
Levy joined ESPN in August of 1993 as a SportsCenter anchor and reporter. He graduated from Oswego State (Oswego, New York) with a Bachelor of Science degree in communications in 1987. The New York City native is a huge hockey enthusiast and devoted New York Rangers fan.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
David-Alexandre Beauregard-Fort Wayne completed the 14th week of the season registering 8-points (2g, 6a) and a plus-seven rating in three games. He opened the week scoring a goal and dishing out an assist in Fort Wayne's 2-0 shutout of the Port Huron Beacons on Wednesday. Beauregard tallied additional multi-point performances in back-to-back games against the Adirondack IceHawks. The 27-year-old Montreal, Quebec native notched two points (1g, 1a) in Friday's 7-0 rout of the IceHawks and four assists in Saturday's 5-1 victory. He is currently riding a four-game point-scoring streak (2g, 7a), four-game assist streak (7a) and league season-high 11-game road point-scoring streak (11g, 10a).

GOALTENDER OF THE WEEK
Kevin St. Pierre-Fort Wayne completed the 14th week of the season posting a 3-0-0 record, a 0.33 goals against average (GAA) and a .986 save percentage (SPCT). He successfully turned away 73 of 74 shots on goal, including back-to-back shutouts to highlight the week. St. Pierre set a new record for longest consecutive shutout minutes by a Komets goaltender in a UHL season (189:0). The 28-year-old Sherbrooke, Quebec native currently leads the league with a 2.04 GAA and a .923 SPCT. He was named November 2003 UHL Goaltender of the Month and earned UHL Goaltender of the Week honors for Week Five (November 17 - 23, 2003) and Week 12 (January 5 - 11, 2004).

AROUND THE LEAGUE: EASTERN CONFERENCE
Adirondack IceHawks (1-2-0 for the week, 17-20-5 overall) The IceHawks have registered a 14-3-3 record when scoring first... Right wing Frank Littlejohn has tallied 14-goals in his last 17-games... Left wing Hugo Belanger is four-goals away from reaching the 400-goal mark as a professional... Picked up their first victory against a Western Conference opponent in Tuesday's 3-2 shootout victory over the Fury.
Elmira Jackals (1-2-0 for the week, 17-19-5 overall) The Jackals have yielded a league-high 12 shorthanded goals... Forward J.F. Boutin's eight-game home assist streak (11a) was halted on Thursday... Rank second in the UHL with an 85.8 home penalty killing percentage... Rookie right wing Nathan Gillies has tallied two-goals in one game for the third straight week.
Flint Generals (0-2-0 for the week, 21-17-3 overall) The Generals hosted their largest crowd (4,221) since March 23, 2002 on Friday (January 23)... Defenseman Martin Woods has tallied at least one point in 18 of the last 21 games, amassing 22-points (5g, 17a) during that span... Play the next seven games on the road and will not return home until February 18, 2004 against the Komets.
Port Huron Beacons (0-2-0 for the week, 19-15-3 overall) The Beacons have posted a perfect 11-0-0 record when leading after two periods at home... Left wing Brent Gretzky ranks third in the UHL with 27 goals and fifth in the league with 172 shots on goal... Netminder Stu Dunn owns the league's second-best save percentage (.921)... 10-5-0 against Western Conference opponents.
Richmond RiverDogs (2-0-0 for the week, 22-14-3 overall) The RiverDogs are unbeaten in their last seven home games, posting a 5-0-2 record... Goaltender Maxime Gingras has started 11 straight games in net... 17-1-1 when scoring the first goal of the game and 12-1-3 in games decided by one goal... Successfully killed off 31 of the last 34 shorthanded situations and have not allowed a power play goal in seven staright games.
AROUND THE LEAGUE: WESTERN CONFERENCE
Fort Wayne Komets (3-0-0 for the week, 26-11-3 overall) The Komets are currently riding a five-game winning streak and have posted a 10-1-1 record in their last 12-games... Goaltender Kevin St. Pierre collected back-to-back shutouts and won his last eight starts... 18-0-1 when leading after the first period and 20-8-2 when outshooting opponents.
Kalamazoo Wings (3-0-0 for the week, 19-12-6 overall) The K-Wings are currently riding a team season-high four-game winning streak... Tallied 17 goals in their last three games... Right wing Marty Flichel tied a team record, notching five points (3g, 2a) in Sunday's 8-2 victory over the IceHogs... 16-1-2 when leading after two periods of action and 18-5-0 when soring first.
Missouri River Otters (1-2-0 for the week, 10-26-5 overall) The River Otters have collected eight of their 10 wins at the Family Arena this season... Left wing Jeff Petruic is currently riding a three-game goal-scoring streak, tallying four goals during that span... 8-0-3 when heading into the third period with the lead... Rank fourth in the league with a 19.0 power play percentage.
Muskegon Fury (2-1-1 for the week, 28-11-4 overall) The Fury continue to lead the league in goals (170), assists (291), points (461), wins (28) and winning percentage (.698)... 11-2-3 in their last 16-games and 19-5-4 in their last 28-games... Own the league's best home record (13-3-3)... Tallied 21 more goals than any other UHL team... Lead the league with a 24.9 power play percentage.
Quad City Mallards (2-1-1 for the week, 24-14-3 overall) The Mallards have posted a 19-1-2 record when leading after two periods and a 14-6-2 record when outshooting opponents... On Sunday, right wing Hugo Proulx tied an all-time Mallards team record with his 29th game-winning goal in regular season play... Have had seven players called up to the American Hockey League (AHL) this season (Martin Hlinka, Andy Fermoyle, Louis Robitaille, Lanny Gare, Charlie Stephens and Rob Voltera).
Rockford IceHogs (1-2-0 for the week, 17-23-2 overall) The IceHogs allowed a team season-high 52 shots and eight goals on Sunday... Center Justin Cardwell's team season-high eight-game point-scoring streak (9g, 4a) ended on Sunday... Registered four hat tricks in the month of January.
