Icehawks To Kick Off Season Opener With Free Tailgate Party

PORT HURON, MI - The Port Huron Icehawks invite fans to help them kick off the 2009-10 campaign this Saturday at a free tailgate party in front of McMorran Arena before they take on the Fort Wayne Komets.

The tailgate party will run from 5 p.m. - 7 p.m. Highlights include entertainment, inflatables, a live DJ and free food, while supplies last. There will also be face painting and hair coloring to get you in the Icehawks spirit. This year's event includes a cash bar for fans 21 and up. The game begins following the tailgate party at 7:30 p.m.

"We invite the community to come out for a great free event to get the season started off right," Vice President/Business Manager Dave Goetze said. "The tailgate party has become an annual tradition and a great way to share our excitement with the fans."

The tailgate party is brought to you in conjunction with McMorran Arena, the United Way, Semco Energy, DTE, Domtar, Barnard Party Rental, the Icehawks Booster Club, Paul Mitchell School of Hair Design, Pepsi, Pompeii's Pizzeria, Dunkin Donuts and WSAQ.

The game is sponsored by the United Way of St. Clair County. Wear white to show your support. Purchase your tickets at the United Way office, 1723 Military Street in downtown Port Huron, and $3 from each ticket sold will be donated back to the organization.

Other October home games include a contest on Friday, Oct. 23 versus Flint at 7:30 p.m. and a Halloween Game on Saturday, Oct. 31 versus the Dayton Gems at 8 p.m.
