Port Huron Icehawks News Release
PORT HURON, MI - The Port Huron Icehawks are proud to announce that Hall of Famer Alex Delvecchio will attend the January 26 game against the Fort Wayne Komets as part of their Red Wings Legend Nights. Delvecchio will drop the ceremonial first puck and an autograph session will follow.
The autograph session will take place in the Pro Shop during first intermission. Autographs will be $5 or free with the purchase of any Icehawks merchandise. All proceeds benefit Kinney Charities.
Delvecchio played 22 full seasons and parts of two more with the Detroit Red Wings from 1950 to 1974, winning three Stanley Cups in the 1950's. He holds the NHL record for most seasons and games played with just one team in his career, appearing in 1,549 games as a Red Wing.
A member of the famous Production Line with Gordie Howe and Ted Lindsay and a three-time Lady Byng Trophy winner for sportsmanship, Delvechhio played in 13 All-Star games and was just the third NHL player to be named an All-Star at two different positions. Delvechhio ended his career with 456 goals and 825 assists for 1,281 points.
"We are very proud to give our fans the chance to meet Alex Delvecchio," said Icehawks Vice President and Business Manager Dave Goetze. "To be able to bring another hockey legend and Hall of Famer to town is such a thrill, and Delvecchio is truly an all-time great."
