Port Huron Icehawks News Release

PORT HURON, MI - The Port Huron Icehawks of the International Hockey League announced their promotional schedule for the 2009-10 season. This year's schedule includes exciting new events and the return of many popular theme nights and giveaways.

Eight home games this season will give Icehawks fans a chance to win tickets to Detroit Red Wings home games. The promotion will kick off on November 11, with one lucky fan winning a pair of tickets to Joe Louis Arena to see the Red Wings face the Anaheim Ducks. Eight pairs of tickets will be given out throughout the year on select home dates.

Not only can you win Detroit Red Wings tickets this season, but you can also meet former Red Wings players. Ted Lindsay, Alex Delvecchio, Joey Kocur and Karen Newman are all scheduled to appear at select Icehawks home games this season.

The Icehawks will also once again host the Detroit Red Wings Alumni Game on Saturday, March 6, where the Detroit Red Wings Alumni team will take on Port Huron Hockey Alumni.

The Icehawks have also introduced a new package for all weekday games. The Deuces Wild Package will give fans the complete hockey experience at McMorran Arena. For just $22, you will receive two tickets in the Attack Zone, two beers or soft drinks and two Icehawks merchandise raffle tickets.

"This season we created a promotional schedule that is unique and fun," said Jake Wesolek, Director of Operations. "Even if you're not a fan of sports, we are trying to create an atmosphere that will still entertain and engage fans of all ages."

The 2009-10 season kicks off Saturday, October 17 when the Icehawks take on the Fort Wayne Komets at 7:30 p.m. The fun begins with a free tailgate party in front of McMorran Arena from 5 p.m. - 7 p.m. Free food, beverages and entertainment will be available as fans celebrate the start of another great hockey season.

Single game tickets and flex packs are available now and can be purchased by phone at (810) 966-3800 or in person at the McMorran Box Office at 701 McMorran Blvd. Single game tickets are also available at www.ticketmaster.com or any Ticket Master location.

THEME NIGHTS

This season there will be many theme nights to add to the excitement at McMorran Arena. All kids who attend the 8:00 p.m. game in costume will get a discounted $5 ticket. An on-ice costume parade will take place as well, giving parents a great photo opportunity. Kids will also receive a treat bag.

Music is the main focus behind Beatles Night, Britney Spears Night and a Michael Jackson Tribute Night. Music from the popular artists will be played throughout these games with music based prizes and giveaways.

Thanksgiving weekend offers many fun events, beginning with Chuck-a-Duck, a variation of the popular Chuck-a-Puck promotion during Friday's game. Turkey bowling will be the featured promotion on Saturday, November 21. The weekend will conclude with a post-game skate session with the Icehawks players on Sunday night.

College football fans are invited to take part in a Bowl Game Pick' Em event on December 11. The Teddy Bear Toss comes back the following night. Bring any new stuffed animal to toss on the ice after the first Icehawks goal. All toys and money raised will benefit a local charity.

"May the Force be with you" on January 30 for the third annual Star Wars Night, when the Icehawks invite all fans to meet characters from all six classic Star Wars films. Players will wear special Star Wars jerseys that will be auctioned off live after the game.
