Icehawks and Applebee's Team Up to Honor Local Teachers

PORT HURON, MI - The Port Huron Icehawks are teaming up with Applebee's to honor local teachers on Teacher Appreciation Day.

The restaurant, located at 3720 Pine Grove Ave. in Fort Gratiot, will offer special deals to teachers on Wednesday, September 9. On this date, all teachers will get their choice of three menu items for just $1.99 plus tax. All teachers with valid school ID can choose from an Oriental Chicken Salad, cheeseburger with fries or Fiesta Lime Chicken. Teachers can also get a regular Mucho Mainstreet Margarita for $5.

The Icehawks will provide each teacher with a ticket voucher good for a 2009-2010 regular season game.

The Icehawks and Applebee's have also joined together to celebrate youth reading at area schools. Throughout the hockey season, Icehawks players will visit Blue Water Area schools, reading to students. Players will present kids with A is for Applebee's cards, good for a free Kid's Meal.

"Applebee's and the Icehawks are both dedicated to giving back to the local community," Icehawks Director of Operations Jake Wesolek said. "We are proud to partner with them to support reading and honor local teachers."

The Icehawks open the 2009-10 season at home on Saturday, October 17 versus the Fort Wayne Komets. Season tickets are on sale now.
