IceDogs vs Belleville – Jan 9th .... The Mississauga IceDogs (23-9-6-1)edged the Belleville Bulls Friday night and in doing so tied their single season win record. With 23 wins the IceDogs not only have tied a franchise record but also sit six points better then any other Eastern Conference team. Blair Jarrett opened the scoring Friday night, netting his 13th of the season early in the second period. After Belleville even the score, Dan Rudisuela scored his 14th of the year to restore the IceDogs lead. Brad Efthimiou would get his 15th of the season early in the third and that would stand as the eventual game winner as the IceDogs held on for a 3-2 win. Doug Groenestege made 31 saves for the win.

IceDogs vs Brampton – Jan 10th .... The Mississauga IceDogs (24-9-6-1) beat Brampton for the fifth straight time this season to set a new franchise record with 24 wins. The 'Dogs were lead by star forward Patrick O'Sullivan who notched his league leading 29th and 30th goals of the season on route to a 5-3 win. With the win the IceDogs maintain their six point lead over second place Barrie, and still hold two games in hand. The IceDogs, currently ranked 10th in Canada, have now won three in row and have only lost once in their last 14 games.
Other goal scorers Saturday were Nick Van Herpt (4), Tomi Zanoski (8) and Blair Jarrett (14). Doug Groenestege started in goal again for the 'Dogs, winning his ninth game of the season. Groenestege currently posts a 9-3-4 record in 16 starts this season and has a 2.53 goals against average (4th in OHL).

Franchise Record .... Mississauga, ON – The Mississauga IceDogs (24-9-6-1) set a new Franchise record Saturday night when they defeated the Brampton Battalion 5-3 at the Hershey Centre. Throughout the IceDogs first five seasons, the team's most winning season resulted in 23 victories. That feat came last year when the IceDogs defeated the Sudbury Wolves 5-1 on the final day of the regular season. With only 40 games played this season the IceDogs have already surpassed the 23 win mark and show no signs of slowing down. The IceDogs have now won three games in a row for the fifth time this season, and have only lost once in their last 14 games. To make the IceDogs recent success even more impressive they have been without a number of key players, including OHL leading goal scorer Patrick O'Sullivan (30) who missed seven games to compete in the World Jr. Tournament.
With the win Saturday night, the IceDogs continue to lead the Eastern Conference with 55 points. The ‘Dogs are six points better then second place Barrie and still have three games in hand. Even more impressive then the IceDogs overall record has been their dominance on home ice. Mississauga has a 15-3-2-1 record at the Hershey Centre, good enough for a 78.6% winning percentage (2nd in OHL) and have heavily outscored their opponents 76-50. The ‘Dogs have only lost once on home ice since early November and are currently riding a three game home winning streak.

Upcoming Schedule .... The IceDogs will host the St. Michael's Majors Wednesday night, before hitting the road for a pair weekend games. The IceDogs head into their fifth game against St. Mike's with a 1-3 record. Friday will mark the IceDogs one and only trip to Plymouth and Windsor. The ‘Dogs will play in Plymouth Friday night, looking for the series sweep after beating the Whalers 4-3 in overtime on December 28th. The ‘Dogs will then open their two game season series with Sarnia on Saturday afternoon.

Road Trip – Jan 16th/17th .... The IceDogs will be sending a fan bus to Plymouth and Sarnia this weekend. The bus will be leaving the Hershey Centre at approximately 12:00pm on Friday and returning at the conclusion of the IceDogs game Saturday in Sarnia. Guaranteed Win Night – Jan 24th .... The Mississauga IceDogs have guaranteed a win versus the Brampton Battalion on January 24th. As part of Toronto Argo's Night, the IceDogs will be give all fans a free ticket to any remaining Wednesday game if the ‘Dogs do not beat Brampton. Also, fans will have an opportunity to meet a number of Argo's players including Mike Clemmons and Damon Allen.
