IceDogs Fall to Saginaw 5-1

The Niagara IceDogs continued their American road trip on Saturday night as they travelled to Saginaw for a cross-conference battle with the Spirit. Saturday marked the second and final game between these teams this season as the IceDogs . The ¬ËDogs were looking for similar results on Saturday in their pursuit of an important two points in a tight Eastern Conference standings race.
Saginaw jumped to an early 2-0 advantage in the first period. That lead would hold up through 20 minutes.
Heading into the second period, the IceDogs were well aware of the challenge ahead of them. Rookie forward Joshua Dame answered the bell at 3:19 for his first career OHL goal on assists from Johnny Corneil and Austin Clapham to pull the IceDogs within 1. Coming alive in the middle frame, the IceDogs put more pucks on net and generated quality scoring chances. Despite building momentum, Saginaw held on to a 2-1 lead through 40 minutes.
Saginaw added 3 more goals in the third period, ultimately defeating the IceDogs by a score of 5-1.
The IceDogs finish their road trip tomorrow afternoon as they visit Sarnia for a 2:00 puck drop.
Returning home on December 8th, the IceDogs host the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds in our annual Teddy Bear Toss game.
