Icedogs Acquire Goalie

Bozeman Icedogs News Release
The ICEDOGS have acquired Blake Yanics, a goalie from St. Louis, MO. He will join the team later in Chicago at the Windy City Showcase Tournament. Last season, he led the St. Louis Junior B team to the National Championship, where they lost 0-1 to the Phoenix Polar Bears. The ICEDOGS recruited him, but he was drafted by Wichita Falls before the 'DOGS had the chance to draft him.
Blake has been on a tour of teams this season. He left the Wichita Falls Rustlers to play for the Green Bay Gamblers of the USHL, and then returned to the Rustlers to find more playing time. By that time, the Rustlers had settled on their goalie rotation. Wanting to play, he went back to St. Louis. The ICEDOGS have been waiting for him to be available, and are very excited about the potential of this young goalie. His coaches in St. Louis think he can really contribute after he finds stability and builds some confidence after being in so many places.
Blake is big, agile, competitive, and is very good at taking angles away when facing a shooter.

Spotlight on Josh Meyers
Josh Meyers started playing hockey around the age of five. He was the last kid in his town of International Falls, MN to learn to skate, and did so by pushing a chair for balance. He really disliked hockey, but his dad insisted that he finish out the year because he had spent his hard earned money paying for it. A couple of years later, he started to like playing, but does not remember how the transition took place. Interestingly enough, Josh has never been in a fight in hockey because nobody has asked and he has not seen the point of finding one himself.
Even though this is his first full year of ICEDOGS Hockey, he is not a rookie. He spent time as an ICEDOG before and after playing in his final season of High School at home last season. Two years ago, Terry Metro recruited Josh along with Ross Johnson to the 'DOGS. Josh loves being an ICEDOG, and the perks that come with it. He knows the players have the best of everything when it comes to Junior A hockey...fans, facility, coaching, etc... Every game, he enjoys looking up at Geno to see what he has on his shirt and the style of his face paint, our "second mascot" he calls him. Josh also misses Cliff, our former Cowboy Zamboni driver, who became famous by swinging from the rafters on a rope.
Josh would like to continue being an ICEDOG for one more season to try and earn a scholarship to play hockey at the University of North Dakota. If he cannot earn a scholarship, he will just go to school at Bemidji State in Minnesota to study Forestry and Wildlife Management. Someday, he would like to be a Department of Natural Resources Officer so he can be outdoors everyday. This coincides with his endless desire to fly fish, hunt, and snowmobile.
