IceDiggers visit Ella White Elementary

Alpena MI: In front of 450 elementary students and over 50 faculty members at Ella White Elementary School the blue team defeated the white team 6-4 in a five innings game of blind fold kickball on Wednesday morning.

Team blue captain Mike Jarboe (Grosse Pte. Park MI) led his team to victory. Other member of Team blue were forwards Taylor Doorlag (Kalamazoo MI), Alpena co-captain Nolan Craner (Plainwell MI) Defensemen Ben Kitzmiller (Lambertville MI), Evan West (Marysville MI), Eric Roman (West Bloomfield MI), and Korey O'Brien (Southgate MI)

Team white's captain Justin King (DeWitt MI) and his team could not even the score in the bottom half of the fifth inning as the blue team prevailed in front of the rowdy crowd. Other members of the white team consisted of IceDigger co-captain Ricardo Yesue (Allen Park MI), Zach Barron (St. Louis MO), Mike DeGrazia (Novi MI) Justin Stadler (Livonia MI) Alpena native Erik Peterson and defensemen Carl Nielsen (Lorain OH)

This is the second straight year the IceDiggers have participated in the event. "The guys really had a good time, they were real competitive and I am sure the students enjoyed themselves at the game." said head coach Kenny Miller.

The IceDiggers would like to thank principal Kevin James, Nancy Kreis and the entire staff at Ella White school for inviting them to be a part of the event.

Alpena returns home for two games this weekend to play host to the USA U-17 team on Friday and Saturday night. Face off for both games will be at 7:00PM. Tickets for both contests are on sale inside the IceDiggers main office.
