Alpena IceDiggers News Release

The Alpena IceDiggers six game winning streak came to an end tonight in Traverse City as the North Stars defeated the IceDiggers 3-1 in Traverse City.

Chad Billins (Marysville MI) scored the lone goal tonight for Alpena, assists went to red hot Powell OH native Todd Rudasill and assistant captain Ben Kitzmiller (Lambertville MI). The marker came on the powerplay early in the second period.

"I thought we outplayed in the first and second periods, we got in penalty trouble in the third and they were able to score a five on three powerplay goal and get momentum." said head coach Kenny Miller "We'll chalk this up as a missed opportunity and turn our attention Friday's game in Ann Arbor."

Traverse City would score all three of their goals in the third period, the nail in the coffin was a shorthanded empty net goal with under a minute to play.

With the loss came the end to Mike Jarboe's (Grosse Point Park MI) undefeated run of seven straight games in which he has started for the IceDiggers, Jarboe made 25 saves on 27 shots in the game.

Alpena still holds the first place spot in the North division standings with a two point lead over Mahoning Valley.

The IceDiggers will enjoy the Thanksgiving holiday on Thursday with family before heading to Ann Arbor to take on the USA U-17 team on Friday and Saturday nights. Both games start at 7:00PM.
