The loss extended Alpena's losing streak to five games.

The IceDiggers (6-20-3) tied the game on an Nolan Craner goal 5:45 into the second period, with Anthony McIntyre and Jeff Miller getting assists. The Stars (10-14-4) took a 2-1 lead just 18 seconds into the second on a power-play goal from Paeth, with assists going to Mullen and Sponseller. "They worked hard," Alpena coach Kenny Miller said. "Sometimes we outworked them, and sometimes they outworked us. They outworked us in the third (period)." Alpena scored just 3:33 into the game to take an early lead on a McIntyre goal, assisted by former Alpena High School player Jeff Olsen. TC's first two goals came with the man advantage.

"We made too many mistakes and they capitalized on them," Miller said. "We didn't have a power-play goal and they had two. All year that's been a thorn in our side. We needed this win badly."

Greer made an outstanding stop in the second period to keep the score tied. Matt Larke and Jonathan Juliano broke out on a 2-on-1 break and Greer was able to get a toe on Larke's shot as he slid across the crease.

Greer also stopped a penalty shot at the 11:36 mark of the third by Brett Englebright to earn the game's No. 3 star. Paeth and Mullen were the No. 1 and No. 2 stars, respectively.

Alpena hosts Cleveland today and Saturday both games start at 7:00pm. Saturday night Santa Claus will be at the game any fan in attendance can have their picture taken with him.
