Dashers Rebound to Defeat Demonz 4-2
The Demonz were in town again tonight after getting the 5-2 win last night over the Dashers. The first period was a dry one in the goal column, but the penalty column was quite full. Ahmed Mahfouz and Wehebe Darge went toe to toe early on in the game. Both received five minutes for fighting. Clint Atkinson and Jared Hicks also went at it and got five for fighting. The Dashers had two power play opportunities in the first, but came up dry on both. The Dashers outshot the Demonz 16-9 in the first period.
The first and second period couldn't have been more opposite. There were a total of five goals in the period. The first two were scored by Dayton. Dan Morin and Rob Vanwysberghe scored goals one and two respectively. The Dashers turned things around the second half of the period and scored 3 quick goals which gave them a 3-2 lead going into the locker room. The first of the Danville goals was scored by A.J. Tesoriero off a rebound loose in front of the Demonz net. Then, as the Dashers were on the penalty kill Wehebe Darge was on a breakaway and hooked, which resulted in Darge capitalizing on a penalty shot with a forehand/backhand top shelf move on Dustin Carlson of Dayton. Just after the Darge goal, Andrew Harrison muscled his way to the front of the net and forced a backhand shot between the legs of Carlson. The Dashers outshot the Demonz 20-6 in the second period.
The Dashers took their 3-2 lead into the third and didn't look back. Andrew Harrison extended the Dashers lead to 4-2 with the exact same muscle move he made in the second period. That 4-2 lead would hold up to be the final. In the third, Dayton head coach Trevor Karasiewicz was ejected from the game for arguing with the head referee. The Dashers are off until Thursday, where they will travel to take on the Steel City Warriors.
