Privateers Steal One from the Outlaws in OT

WILLIAMSPORT, PA - For the third straight night the Williamsport Outlaws got on the board first, and for the second time in three nights, the Outlaws find themselves on the wrong end of the scoreboard, falling to the 1000 Island Privateers in overtime by a score of 7-6.

Trevor Karasiewicz got the Outlaws on the board in the first period off his own faceoff win at the 4:00 mark of the first period to tally his fourth goal and 36th point of the season, and give the Outlaws a 1-0 lead.

Peter Campbell would answer Karasiewicz goal, with a shorthanded goal of his own at the 8:28 mark of the period to tie it at 1-1 in the first period.

Robert Sich would label his league leading 26th goal of the season at the 9:31 mark of the period. The power play goal was assisted by Nathan Oke and Chris LeVeille.

Campbell would tie the game at 2-2 with his second goal of the night at the 18:40 mark from Nikolas Temple and Justin MacDonald.

Williamsport jumped back on top in the second period when Brett Needham scored from LeVeille and Oke at the 5:26 mark.

MacDonald would tie the game for the Privateers with a goal at the 6:24 mark from Kevin Morrison.

1000 Islands would take a 4-3 lead at the 6:39 mark of the period when Campbell labeled his third goal of the night.

Tyler Matheson would answer Campbell's goal at the 12:19 mark of the period from Nick Van Den Beld and Oke to send the game into the second intermission tied at 4-4.

LeVeille would give the Outlaws a 5-4 lead at the 2:45 mark from Sich and Oke on the power play.

Martin Moucha would give the Outlaws a 6-4 lead at the 3:56 mark from Karasiewicz and Smyth.

1000 Islands would score two more times in regulation to tie it up at 6-6, the both coming from Peter Campbell who tallied five goals on the night.

Brett Tamane would settle it in overtime when he beat Mike DiLorenzo at the 1:18 mark to give the Privateers the victory.

Danbury Beats Cape Cod 5-3 After Comeback Scare

The Cape Cod Bluefins tried to dig themselves out of a three-goal hole, but the Danbury Whalers held on for a 5-3 victory.

Danbury took a 5-2 lead during the third period, only to have Cape Cod storm back on a Matthew Harrington goal 18:55 into the third period to pull to two goals down.

The Whalers' penalty kill excelled, as Danbury gave up one goal despite allowing eight power plays.

The Whalers were relatively well disciplined in the game, receiving only eight minors and two majors for 26 minutes in penalty time. Danbury fell short of the 33.0 minutes average penalties per game. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals. The Whalers put 66 shots on net during the contest, more than the 33.8 they average per game.

Danbury was helped by Gentry Zollars, who tallied one goal. Zollars scored on the power play 8:35 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Danbury. The Whalers earned a power play opportunity when Casey Mignone was put in the box for high sticking. Tom Tilla provided the assist. Danbury additionally got points from John Goffredo, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Danbury included Julian Fraser, who had one and Max Mobley, who had two. More assists for Danbury came via Carlo Ricci and Tyler Noseworthy, who contributed one a piece and Leland Fidler, Adam Houli, and Kamil Vavra, who each chipped in two.

The Bluefins kept Danbury's goalie busy throughout the game, and Mike Brown made 29 saves on 32 shots.

Cape Cod was helped by Ian McLachlan, who grabbed one goal. McLachlan scored 1:41 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Danbury. Radoslav Konecny picked up the assist. Other players who recorded assists for Cape Cod were Luke Frey, Taylor Larsen, Anthony Sarno, Greg Vatrano, and Michael Guerra, who contributed one a piece.

The Whalers registered two goals on two power play opportunities. The Bluefins' starting goalie, Ryan Klingensmith, made 60 saves and finished with the loss before he was taken out in favor of Tony Greeley, who stopped one shot. Cape Cod ended with 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors and two majors.

Demonz Win Tough Contest Against Dashers

The Dayton Demonz won their third straight over the Danville Dashers in nearly the exact same fashion as the previous two evenings. An empty net goal from Lucas Schott sealed the deal for the Demonz 6-4. The actual game winner was potted by Dayton's Luke Flicek with 8:04 to play going into the third period before Darick Ste Marie scored his second night to cut the lead back to one with 7:40 left. Marcus Pryde opened the scoring after banging home a slick pass from Ahmed Mahfouz just 2:06 into the first period. The Dashers roared back with unassisted shorthanded goals from Ryan Stern and Shawn McNulty to end the first period with a lead. The second period was dominated by Dayton on the scoreboard. Flicek and Nick Petriello both scored to give the Demonz a lead heading in to the third frame. Mahfouz extended the lead to 4-2 a little over five minutes into the third period after he was picked out in the slot by Marcus Pryde. Ste Marie scored to make it 4-3 after a blunder by Demonz goalie Jeff Rose allowed McNulty to send a pass through the crease, giving Ste Marie an open net to shoot on.
