INDIANAPOLIS, IN-- The Indiana Ice gained 36 years of professional hockey experience today as the team has brought on Phil Myre as the team's new goaltending consultant.

A veteran of 14 NHL seasons as a goaltender, Myre appeared in 439 games with Montreal, Atlanta, St. Louis, Philadelphia, Colorado and Buffalo. He made his NHL debut with the Montreal Canadiens during the 1969-70 season, where he won a Stanley Cup Championship in 1971.

The native of Ste-Anne-de-Bellevue, Quebec has spent the last nine seasons with the Ottawa Senators with eight of those years being as the club's goaltending coach. He also served as a professional scout for the team. During that time, he has worked with the likes of NHL netminders Patrick Lalime, Ron Tugnutt, Damian Rhodes, Jani Hurme, Martin Prusek and Ray Emery.

"Red and I developed a relationship back with his days in New Jersey and mine in Ottawa," said Myre. "I felt it would be a good fit for me and would keep me active with hockey."

Before his stint with Ottawa and following his retirement as a player in 1984, Myre has also worked in a variety of coaching and scouting roles with the Los Angeles Kings, Detroit Red Wings and Chicago Blackhawks.

"Phil Myre brings professional coaching experience at the NHL level which is outstanding," said Ice Head Coach Red Gendron. "He is a former NHL player with a terrific resume as a player and we couldn't be more excited for him to be a part of our program. Our goaltenders will become the beneficiaries of his tremendous experience and professionalism."
