Indiana Ice News Release
INDIANAPOLIS, IN- The Indiana Ice announced today that the team has traded forward Colin Vock and goaltender Jake Maida to the Des Moines Buccaneers in exchange for goaltender Pat Watson and a 2005 USHL Draft Pick.
Watson arrives in Indianapolis after parts of two years with the Buccaneers. In 15 games this year as the number one goaltender for Des Moines, he recorded a 2-7-3 record with one shutout, a 3.90 GAA and a .886 save percentage on a struggling Buccaneers squad. Last season with Des Moines, he registered a 9-7-1 record with three shutouts, a 2.90 GAA and a .919 save percentage in 20 games of work.
"Watson was playing on a team that was struggling defensively," said Ice General Manager Josh Mervis. "He is a veteran with a full college scholarship who had an excellent season last year and who has a wealth of USHL experience."
The 6-2, 180-pound goaltender has a Division One college commitment for next season with the Merrimack College Warriors (Hockey East), a conference that also includes hockey powerhouses Boston College, Boston University, the University of Maine and the University of New Hampshire.
"I believe Watson will come in and solidify our goaltending and give us the "big save" that we have been looking for in net," added Mervis.
Vock departs the Ice after posting nine points (4G, 5A) in 24 games. Maida was 3-7-0 with a 3.09 GAA and a .883 save percentage in 12 games between the pipes.
Watson is expected to be in the line-up this weekend when the Ice hosts his old team on Friday at 7 p.m. from the Pepsi Coliseum. Indiana then plays the Waterloo Black Hawks at 7 p.m. on Saturday night at the Pepsi Coliseum.
Fans can purchase tickets for both games this weekend and all home game at all Ticketmaster locations including select Marsh Supermarkets, Karma Records, select L.S.
