
IBL vets Bowden, Johnson join Steelheads

Gary, IN-The Gary Steelheads have announced that IBL veterans DeAnthony Bowden and Rashi Johnson will join the team for the upcoming IBL season. Bowden helped lead the Elgin Racers to a 16-6 mark last season, while Johnson was a key component to the Elkhart Express' run to the title in 2006 and 2007.
Bowden, 6'2", was the IBL's third leading scorer last season at 32.9 points per contest. Bowden finished his college career at Creighton University following a transfer from Jacksonville J.C. Bowden has played for two NBDL squads (Iowa Energy, Arkansas RimRockers), and also played in the USBL last season for the Oklahoma Storm. Currently, Bowden is playing for the Oklahoma Cavalry (CBA).
After twice earning NJCAA All-American honors at Mott College, the 6'2" Johnson played for Tom Izzo at Michigan State University to close out his college career. Johnson is currently playing in the PBL where he is among the league leaders in steals and assist to turnover ratio.
