The Burlington Bandits welcomed the Guelph Royals to town Thursday night and were more than happy when they left. Guelph unleashed 19 hits and 20 runs on the Bandit pitching staff on a night where several players put up big numbers at the plate.

Royals pitcher Joseph Fincher put in a superb effort going six innings, allowing no runs while striking out five. That performance earned him the win but was overshadowed by the offence.

Guelph's Bruce Yari hit his third home run of the season, scored three runs, had four walks, a remarkable six RBI and reached base seven times. Justin Intertisano hit his third and fourth home runs of the year, scored three times, had five hits and five RBI. Josh Garton hit his league leading seventh home run of 2014 and also sits atop the IBL stat board with 26 RBI. Garton's .377 batting average is good for sixth in the league. Leadoff hitter Keith Kandel continues to flirt with a .400 average and his two hits bumped him up to .394, good for second in the IBL.

Burlington's Blake Weston took the loss after allowing eight runs in less than five innings but he was not the only Bandit pitcher who struggled against the hot Royals bats. Every Bandit hurler allowed at least three earned runs. Burlington's silver linings on the evening were Dan Treccia hitting his first home run of the season and Tyler Patzalek collecting a pair of hits.

Burlington falls to 3-11 on the year and next plays Saturday when they visit Guelph to take on the Royals on their home turf. Guelph, now 11-5, next plays on Friday when they visit Hamilton to play the Cardinals.

Toronto 6 Kitchener 5

Toronto pitcher Jaspreet Shergill put in a strong starting effort for the Maple Leafs going seven innings and scattering six hits while striking out four. In a close game it wasn't good quite enough to earn the win which teammate Evan Wolf got in relief throwing a scoreless eighth and ninth to close out the game against the Kitchener Panthers. Kitchener's David Whiteside took the loss in relief allowing the winning run in the ninth.

Toronto's Jalen Harris hit his first home run of the season and drove in two runs. Tyler Mitchell, Sean Mattson, and Grant Tamane each had a pair of hits for Toronto. Mattson also drove in three runs.

The Panther's Scott David had three hits, scored a run and drove another in. Sean Reilly drove in three runs and had a pair of hits. David and Reilly have identical .383 batting averages and stand tied for foruth in the league batting championship.

Toronto now 9-8 plays Friday evening when they visit Brantford to battle the Red Sox. Kitchener, sitting at 6-10 on the year, hosts London Friday afternoon.
