Houston Changes Name and Attitude

August 7, 2010 - American Basketball Association (ABA) News Release

Houston, TX. "Houston, we have a problem," stated Houston Takers team owner Larry Leonard III. "The problem is there's a new but old team in town. We've changed our name and we've changed our attitude. We are determined to be one of the premiere teams in the ABA on and off the court."

The Houston Takers will now be known as the Houston Red Storm. "Last season I put my trust in a group of people on the business side and was very disappointed in their results," added Leonard. "That will never happen again as long as I am in the ABA. We have a new look and a new name to justify the new direction we are heading. I think everyone will like our new colors - red, white and grey - and especially our new attitude."

The head coach of the Red Storm will be Kevin Franklin. "I chose him because he's off the radar and he also has a great knowledge of the game," stated Leonard. "This is going to be a special season, just watch."

Note: OurSports Central no longer actively covers the American Basketball Association (ABA) as a professional league due in part to its inability to publish and play a schedule and the transitory nature of many of its teams.
