ABA Launches National Talent Search

August 7, 2010 - American Basketball Association (ABA) News Release

Indianapolis, IN. "The fusion of music and sports has long been a goal of the ABA," stated ABA COO Dick Packer. "And we've put together an organization that can do just that. We believe the combination of music and sports will make the ABA games the most exciting and entertaining sporting events in the country."

"One of our first initiatives is the creation of a national talent search for the best unknown vocalist or music group in the country. And the Grand Prize will be a recording contract with Global Music Group/Fontana valued around $1,000,000! The ABA Talent Search will be under the supervision of Grammy Award Winning artist Roland Turner.

"We plan to have a series of local talent contests in most ABA cities from August through November," stated Turner. "It will be much like American Idol and America's Got Talent with the exception that we'll be going to 60+ cities to find the talent and the various local winners will ultimately compete for the Grand Prize at the ABA Finals. Meantime, ABA basketball fans will be treated to non-stop entertainment for the next few months."

"And, we are very pleased to add an online component to the program giving vocalists and groups from around the world a chance to compete for the near million dollar recording contract," added Turner. "Complete details of both the local talent contests and the online talent component can be found at www.abaentertainment.net and www.abatalentsearch.com. For more information about either the local or online programs, email rolandturner@globalmusicgroup.net or call 251 442 4663 or visit www.abalive.com.

Note: OurSports Central no longer actively covers the American Basketball Association (ABA) as a professional league due in part to its inability to publish and play a schedule and the transitory nature of many of its teams.
