Hounds Open USL eCup Competition Today against Rio Grande Valley

PITTSBURGH - Today, Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC will begin its action in the USL eCup: Rocket League Edition against Rio Grande Valley FC. The esports match will take place at 4 p.m. and can be streamed live on ESPN3.

Midfielder Kenardo Forbes will represent the Hounds in the 32-team esports tournament, which kicks off on April 1. The 1-v-1 competition will commence with a group stage before moving on to knockout rounds, mirroring a World Cup format. The group stage matches will be a best of three series, the knockout round games will be a best of five series and the final showdown will be a best of seven series.

Launched in 2015, Rocket League has become one of the premier games in esports and won Best Sports Game at E3 in 2015. With a head-to-head format that models the game of soccer, it sees players navigate their vehicles to direct the ball toward the net and score goals.
