Hounds Look To Even Series Tonight
March 29, 2008 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Youngstown SteelHounds News Release
LOVELAND, COLORADO - The Youngstown SteelHounds fell to the Colorado Eagles 6-4 last night in game one of the CHL Northern Conference Semifinals. Youngstown had a 4-2 lead late in the second period until the Eagles rifled off four straight goals to take the lead in this series. Tonight leaves one burning question...how do the Hounds get a win inside the Budweiser Events Center? It has never happened in franchise history going 0-9-1 lifetime and 0-4 in the playoffs dating back to last season.
Last night saw six Hounds play in their first professional playoff game. Steve Birnstill and Eric Przepiorka scored a goal to lead the newcomers. Other Hounds who made their playoff debuts last night included David Simoes, Nathan Schwartzbauer, Tyler Wooddisse and Jeff Genovy.
Bryan Lachapelle and Chris Richards paced the Hounds with three points a piece. Lachapelle had a goal and two assists while Richards had three assists. Ed McGrane paced the Eagles with two goal and an assist while Ryan Tobler, Greg Pankewicz and Seth Leonard each registered two points in the Colorado victory.
In order for the Hounds to win this series they must take at least one game at the Budweiser Events Center. They will have their chance tonight at 9:05. Coverage of the game begins on the CHL Network via www.centralhockeyleague.com at 8:55EST. ESPN Radio 1240 and SteelHounds.com. will pick up the game following tonight's Mahoning Valley Thunder AF2 game.
SteelHounds playoff tickets for games three, four and five (if necessary) are on sale now for $8.00 by calling (330) 747-PUCK. For more information including more about "Dollar Hot Dog Night" scheduled for game four on April 4th crash the net at SteelHounds.com.
