Hosmer's Hat Trick Boosts Mississippi RiverKings over Mississippi

Todd Hosmer netted a hat trick to lead Mississippi RiverKings over Mississippi Surge, 5-2.

Hosmer got on the scoresheet 18:35 into the second period. He then added goals at 10:38 into the third and at 14:43 into the third.

Mississippi RiverKings put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Mississippi Surge to score on any of its four power plays. Mississippi RiverKings also had goals scored by Devin Mantha and Leo Thomas, who each put in one. In addition, Mississippi RiverKings received assists from Mike Hayward and Paul Clancy, who each chipped in one and Mike Grace and Andrew Randazzo, who contributed two a piece.

The 36 shots that Mississippi Surge put on net surpassed Mississippi Surge's average of 22.5 shots per game this season. Mississippi Surge was helped by Justin MacDonald, who registered one goal. MacDonald scored 13:44 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Jordan Peddle picked up the assist.Tom Janosz also scored for Mississippi Surge. Other players who recorded assists for Mississippi Surge were Casey Mignone and Chapen LeBlond, who each chipped in one.

Mississippi RiverKings' Dan McWhinney stopped 34 shots out of the 36 that he faced. Mississippi RiverKings incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Dan Clarke made 25 saves for Mississippi Surge on 30 shots. Mississippi Surge incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
