
Honu Handle CaneFires, Extend HWB West Lead

The North Shore Honu extended their lead in Hawaii Winter Baseball's West Division to 5 ½ games over West Oahu with an 8-4 victory over the CaneFires this afternoon at Waipahu's Hans L'Orange Park.
The Honu (8-4) received a well-balanced, 13-hit attack led by Stephen Chapman who amassed three base knocks and drove in two runs, while Jeramy Laster hit his fourth home run of the season and also notched 2 RBIs. Right fielder Brad Corley also picked up 2 RBIs, while Lou Santangelo and Masahiro Nagata racked up two hits apiece.
Jeff Bianchi, Russell Mitchell and Jamie Hoffman each had two hits for West Oahu (2-9-1)
Logan Ondrusek (1-1, 1.64 ERA) earned the victory after allowing two runs, one of which was earned, and striking out two in four innings on the bump. CaneFires starter Steve Johnson fell to 1-1 on the campaign and saw his ERA rise to 4.15 after allowing five earned runs in four innings.
Both squads return to Hans L'Orange Park tomorrow for the series finale. First pitch is scheduled for noon.
