Pulaski Mariners News Release
Pulaski, VA- Pulaski pulled off their first series win of the season defeating Princeton 6 to 5 in a game that featured five homeruns Friday night at Calfee Park.
Pulaski came out of the gates swinging the big sticks, this would ultimately end up being the theme of the night. Jordy Lara and Reggie Lawson gave the M's their first back-to-back homers of the season when they both crushed two-out solo shots in the 1st inning. The hitting did not stop there; the M's started the 2nd with four straight singles that eventually resulted in three more Pulaski runners crossing the plate.
Tyler Marlette hopped on the homerun train in the bottom of the 6th when he sent a fastball over the left-center field fence. Not to be out done, Princeton's Darryl George and Oscar Hernandez answered the M's power by leading off the 7th with yet another pair of back-to-back jacks, giving Princeton their first runs of the game.
George kept up the power in the 8th when he hit his second homer of the game, this time a 3-run shot bringing the Rays within one. Fortunately for the Mariners, RHP David Holman shut down Princeton in the 9th earning his second save of the season.
Rigoberto Garcia chalked up his second win of the year after throwing five impressive innings allowing no runs, walking one, giving up three hits, and striking out three Princeton batters.
Come out and support the Mariners tomorrow night (7/7) as they begin their next home stand against the Kingsport Mets at Calfee Park. First pitch at 7 p.m.
