Vancouver Whitecaps News Release
Put away your umbrellas and bring your sunscreen to Swangard Stadium this Saturday! Tomorrow night reigning league MVP Jason Jordan and the Vancouver Whitecaps kick off their season against long-time rivals the Portland Timbers at 7:00pm. There are less than 800 tickets remaining for the contest.
The new-look Timbers have several new players in their line-up, including attacking midfielder Luke Kreamalmeyer who played for Real Salt Lake of Major League Soccer in 2005. Portland has some familiar faces on their roster as well, including Mexican striker Byron Alavarez, playmaker Hugh Alcaraz-Cuellar and United Soccer League First Division All-League defender Scot Thompson.
In addition to the action on the pitch, there will be a ton of activity on the concourse throughout the evening. CirKids, a circus of storytelling, imagination and performance that includes a blend of traditional circus arts with athletics, dance, and theatre, will perform pre-game, half-time and post-game. Local band Troys 'R Us will also be rocking Swangard prior to kickoff and at halftime. Finally, following the match fans are encouraged to stay after the game for the 4th annual Opening Night fireworks!
Saturday's game is a Whitecaps Family Night with 4 tickets and 2 Happy Meals from just $49. Individual tickets start at just $16, call 604.280.4400 to reserve your seat, or CLICK HERE to buy online.
