Valley Blue Sox News Release
For the past three years, the Holyoke Blue Sox have incorporated theme nights into their game schedule. This year the Holyoke Blue Sox have expanded their themed nights to include nights in which they celebrate towns in the Pioneer Valley.
On June 8, 2011, the Holyoke Blue Sox kicked off their summer season with the first home game at Mackenzie Stadium located at 500 Beech Street in Holyoke, MA. The Blue Sox honored their hometown during the Holyoke Night festivities, which included a first pitch thrown from Mayor Elaine Pluta and other honored guests from Willpower and Gary Rome Nissan. Whitney Anderson on behalf of the Holyoke Youth Baseball League was there to receive $1500 for a successful Holyoke Blue Sox fundraiser.
Throughout the summer, the Holyoke Blue Sox have planned special town specific nights where schools, civic organizations and community groups are invited to join the Blue Sox in celebrating their hometown. Every town from Holyoke to Belchertown has been asked to be an integral part of the 2011 summer season.
"As we enter season four-there was a more concentrated effort to have town themed nights as they are the sum-up and part of the reward for all of the successful fundraisers we did in school systems and youth baseball leagues," said Holyoke Blue Sox Director of Sales & Marketing Amy Scott.
As the Holyoke Blue Sox look to the future they are hoping to expand on what they have already learned and provide entertainment and fundraising to the entire Pioneer Valley. In 2012, the Blue Sox will seek to work with even more towns and cities.
When planning the themed nights the goal is to provide entertainment to the fans and raise awareness about a number of organizations that the Blue Sox are working with. Some of the organizations that the Holyoke Blue Sox have collaborated with include Habitat for Humanity, American Cancer Society, the Jimmy Fund, and more.
Barry Wadsworth, Principal Owner and COO of the Holyoke Blue Sox say, "It's fantastic that we get to share our success and our field with so many outstanding civic groups and youth baseball leagues this summer. We want every group and league and school in the Pioneer Valley to know that our doors are open to you as a fundraising opportunity and a fun night out. Our roster is amazing this year and the guys on the team are playing some serious ball for the benefit of the MLB scouts that come to our stadium and for our loyal fans."
Scott adds "It's an honor to host so many groups at our field this summer and it's been a blast planning some great themed nights for our fans. The Holyoke Blue Sox are perhaps the best-kept family entertainment secret in Western, MA. Where else can you go within such a short drive for $6 admission, enjoy a ballpark dog, a cold beer, great seats and easy parking. You get the full professional baseball experience at the Holyoke Blue Sox."
