Valley Blue Sox News Release
I can't believe our 2011 Holyoke Blue Sox Season Opener is just a few weeks away, Wednesday, June 8th at 6:30pm, McKenzie Stadium, Holyoke, MA!!! We have been extremely fortunate with all of the Pioneer Valley Community rallying behind us and supporting us in so many ways. One extremely important activity that we want to highlight is when community families volunteer to become a Player Host Family.
The media has also been such a tremendous supporter of ours and Barry and I can't thank you all enough for the exposure and coverage you have given us over these past 3 now heading into 4 years. Without all of your help and guidance, we couldn't have done it without you!!!
Barry and I are looking to see if you can assist us with get the word out to the community, the word about the Blue Sox looking to bring just a few more Host Families on board. I know we will make it happen, but we need the help from all of our local media outlets.
Every year 28 young men move to The Pioneer Valley for the summer to play for the Holyoke Blue Sox. From June to July these young aspiring ballplayers continue to hone their baseball skills playing 42 games in 60 days. Players come from all over the United States to participate in the New England Collegiate Baseball League and to be a part of the Holyoke Blue Sox Baseball Team. For most summer collegiate baseball teams, Host Family programs are a vital part of that team's success both on and off the field. Having the players become a part of a local family helps these young men have some sense of normalcy in a strange new city. Many of the players become more than a guest; they actually become part of the family.
I want to thank you in advance for your continued support and helping us spread the word. I have attached additional information on our Host Family program, please let me know if you have any questions or need additional information.
Looking forward to hearing from you and seeing you at the Games!!
Go Blue Sox!!
