
Holland Blast Announce Coach for 2008

Tom Moore, General Manager of the Holland Blast professional basketball team, announced today that Michael D.
Ahrens would return as Head Coach. "I am delighted to make this announcement today," said Moore. "Coach
Ahrens and I go back to my beginnings in professional sports and I have always admired him for his professionalism,
his interpersonal skills, and his ability to build a winning team. This is a fine addition to the Holland Blast."
Ahrens, a native of Manchester, Michigan, has a vast amount of coaching experience building or improving programs.
He graduated from Eastern Michigan University ('74). His background includes coaching at the following high
schools: Cass City, Onaway, Central Montcalm, Muskegon Catholic Central and Orchard View. Mike has served as
an assistant coach at Adrian College and was head coach at Jordan College. He has accumulated over 200 victories at
all levels of his coaching career. Between90-98, the Grand Rapids HOOPS (CBA) provided valuable experience for
Ahrens in evaluating "potential" NBA players for the CBA draft at Free Agent Camps, statistical analysis, HOOPS
Community Conscience Committee and summer camps. The annual Muskegon Post Player Camp under the direction
of Ahrens has attracted more than 300 players from Michigan and Ohio in the last eight years. He has been an
Assistant Coach for the Grand Rapids Flight, and Head Coach of the Holland Blast in their 2006 inaugural season.
Ahrens said "I am excited to come back and lead this team again. I have watched the ownership group and I want to
be part of this Team. I am proud to be associated with this team because of the commitment they have demonstrated
to the community. It is exciting to be returning."
