Hockey And All-Star Weekend Highlight New Year's Eve

3....2....1: The Ice and Radio Disney (98.3 FM) welcome recording artists Allstar Weekend for a special post-game concert on New Year's Eve following Indy's 6:05 pm hockey match-up with the Chicago Steel. Allstar Weekend is currently in Radio Disney's top 30 hit list with their popular song "Journey to the End of My Life."

FIELDHOUSE FILES: The Ice invades Conseco Fieldhouse for the first of two games this season and the team is 4-4-3 in 11 all-time battles at the downtown venue. Indiana was 1-1-0 in their two games last year.

12/31/08 vs DM- The Ice rallied from a 5-1 third period deficit to score five unanswered goals in route to a 6-5 victory over the Des Moines Buccaneers. Third period scorers included Shane Berschbach, Brandon Richardson-UNO, Will MacDonald-Princeton, Brent Gwidt-UNO and the game-winner from Zach Golembiewski-Michigan State.

2/28/09 vs CR- The Ice lost to the Cedar Rapids 2-1 in a goaltending between Indy's Brett Bennett-Wisconsin and Cedar Rapids' Mike Johnson. Mikael Owilli scored the lone goal for the Ice.

POWER PLAY SHUT DOWN: The USHL's premier penalty killing units rest in Indianapolis as the Ice is a league best 87.1% (108/124) on the penalty kill and has killed off 28 of their opponents' last 29 power play attempts.

TEAM NEWS: Indy is just 4-6-0 in their last ten games and has dropped two consecutive games at home...Bryon Paulazzo is third in the USHL in plus/minus (+17)...Cab Morris is first among goaltenders in GAA (2.04) and save percentage (.926) and is tied for first in shutouts (3).

JOHNNY ON THE SPOT: Former Ice defenseman John Carlson (2007-08) continues to shine as the current Hershey Bears (AHL) blueliner was selected to the 2010 United States National Junior Team that will compete this week at the International Ice Hockey Federation World Junior Championship in Saskatoon and Regina, Saskatchewan. Carlson has 24 points (G, 23A) in 29 games with Hershey this year and also saw action in three games with the Washington Capitals.
