Baltimore Brigade News Release

BALTIMORE, MD - The Arena Football League announced today that Brigade quarterback Randy Hippeard has been named Week 1's Offensive Player of the Week for his performance against the Washington Valor. Hippeard accounted for seven total touchdowns - five passing and two rushing - and threw for 240 yards, leading Baltimore to a 61-56 win.

Hippeard, the 2017 AFL Most Valuable Player, found wide receiver Kendrick Ings for a 31-yard touchdown on the game's opening possession. After a defensive stop, Hippeard tallied his first rushing touchdown of the season to give Baltimore a two-score lead. The five-year AFL veteran accounted for four touchdowns in the first half and three in the second half - capping every Brigade drive with a score, excluding the game's final possession, when the team intentionally ran the clock out.

"He made a play every time we needed one," Brigade Head Coach Omarr Smith said after the game. "I was really proud of our offense...to score every possession is a huge confidence builder for us."

The Brigade are in Philadelphia this Saturday, taking on the defending-champion Soul at 7 p.m. at Wells Fargo Center. The game will be broadcast nationally on CBS Sports Network. The next Brigade home game will be on Saturday, April 28, when Baltimore hosts Albany at 3 p.m. at Royal Farms Arena.
