The Hickory Nutz extended their winning streak to 9 games with a 138-93 victory over the Wilmington Wave Rockers tonight at Hickory High School.
Nate James led the Nutz with 34 points including a perfect 9-9 from the free throw line. DeSean Hadley had his 5th straight game with at least 4 3-point field goals made by going 4-7 from 3 finishing with 20 points. Lamont Boozer controlled the glass with 16 rebounds (7 coming off the offensive end) and 18 points. Mario Woodson had 13 points and 13 rebounds with Tyson Patterson finishing with 14 points and 12 assists to led 3 Nutz players with double doubles.
"This is one of the best minor league teams I have been apart of." Nutz Head Coach Bryan Gates commented on. "We share the ball so well and are so unselfish." Gates has been an assistant coach in the CBA for 4 years and a head coach in the USBL for 2.
Wake Forrest Alumni Robert O'Kelly led the Wave Rockers with 38 points. Marcell Scott added 17.
This was the first game the Wave Rockers played after firing head coach Mitchell Wiggins.
"I am pleased with our team." Wave Rockers President Freddie Wilson said after the game. "We do have an up hill climb but feel very positive about our direction."
